I hope that everyone is having an amazing October! I never really enjoyed the fall season until I moved to Fayetteville four years ago. This place is a beauty in the fall! The weather is perfect, the Razorbacks are....., and the leaves. Oh the leaves. The leaves here are like nothing I have ever seen. They turn all shades of yellow and orange and red. I wish that I could capture the beauty of fall in Fayetteville and keep it forever!
The past two days have marked two very important anniversaries for me!
This October marks the one year anniversary of being involved with Big Brother, Big Sister NWA. I was matched as a big sister, to my little sister, Cheyanna, last October, and we had our first activity on October 22, 2011. We went to a corn maze, and picked pumpkins to decorate!
This is us one year ago:
This was the pumpkin that I made last year!
This is us this year! Look how much we have both changed!
The pumpkin on the left is supposed to be a cupcake with one candle to represent our one year anniversary! The one on the right is the pumpkin that Cheyanna painted.
...and this is my pumpkin!! Isn't is super cute?!
Cheyanna is an amazing little sister. I have really enjoyed getting to know her and developing a relationship over the past year. I love being able to watch her grow and figure herself out. She reminds me so much of myself! She is strong and independent, and she has a plan for her life-just like I did at her age! She is funny and outgoing, and she gets me out of my shell!
And speaking of anniversaries, one year ago today was my first date (blind date!) with Joseph! It is absolutely CRAZY that I have just known him for a year!! (and been married for almost 5 months of that year!) Joseph and I had a walk down memory lane last night and we talked (mostly laughed) about our first date, so I wanted to share...and he is probably going to KILL me for this!
This is our first picture together...about a week after our first date!
We really don't remember all the details of the date, but the things that we remembered the most were:
Joe made this statement: "I have to pee. I pee a lot when I am nervous." I didn't think anything of this at the time, but now it is HILARIOUS.
Joe also made fun of my accent. Since it was a blind date, he had never heard me talk before, and I guess he wasn't expecting the southern drawww.
Joe also got us lost at Lake Fayetteville....
At the end of the date, I hugged him and had intentions to kiss him on the cheek....apparently I freaked him out and he frantically moved his face, so I ended up kissing him on the corner of the mouth/chin. AWKWARD....He tried to make up for it so he hugged me again and then kissed me! He always tells people that I kissed him on the first date, but that wasn't my intention! Its all his fault!
While our first date one year ago is definitely one to remember, I find myself so wonderfully blessed with an amazing husband today. I would have never thought that I would have found and married my husband within a years time, but it was definitely meant to be. I love him so much and am so thankful that we found each other!
Samantha
