I made a Christmas Calendar, but Joe and I did a lot of festive things during the month of November that I wanted to chronicle first!
- I took my little sister, Cheyanna, to shop for an angel off the Salvation Army Tree. I usually pick the youngest age group of children off the tree, but because Cheyanna is 14, we picked the oldest girl on the tree to shop for. It was such a fun experience for the both of us!
- Joe and I filled some boxes for Operation Christmas Child through our church.
- I made a Christmas wreath!!!
- We went to the opening night of Light of the Ozarks on the Fayetteville square.
- Joe bought me a Christmas tree on Black Friday! We decided that we weren't going to get a tree this year, but we found a really great price on one at Lowes! I don't think that Joe realized how much I liked Christmas until I shrieked like a 7-year-old girl when we got the tree! We got all of Joe's special ornaments from his house over Thanksgiving break, and my mom mailed me my special ornaments, so we decorated our tree earlier this week! I turn it on as soon as the sun starts going down so that I can enjoy every second of it! We are just missing the tree topper, but we will get that this weekend!
- We decided to start a tradition with buying one ornament to "sum" up our year. Obviously this year, we got a wedding ornament! We also bought an ornament from the famous Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas market in Germany, so I guess we have two special ornaments for 2012.
- We made a nativity scene! I had the idea, and Joseph (and his dad) did all the work for it. It turned out to be exactly what I wanted! We looked at buying a nativity scene, but none of them really fit our style. This one is also kid-friendly...definitely thinking ahead on that one!
- We bought a beautiful poinsettia, and hung up stockings. These stockings are special to me because they were my parents "first" stockings when they got married!
- We looked at Christmas lights in Beloit!
- We sent out Christmas cards! I felt like such a grown up for having my own family and sending our own Christmas card out!
And now for the Christmas Calendar! Everything is tentative, but this is what I hope to accomplish over the next month! We are going to Texas on Sunday, December 23, so we will be having Christmas with my family. Joe's family is coming to NWA the next weekend, so we will be able to have Christmas with them, too!
Be safe this Christmas season; remember the reason for this holiday, and try not to allow yourself to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of it all. I can't wait to spend time with all of my family and soak up all the warm and fuzzy feelings that come with my favorite holiday!
