Joseph's Birthday

My husband is getting old! Yesterday was Josie's birthday, and we had a day full of activity! I love, love birthdays and I really tried to make it a special day for my husband!

First, we had to wake up extremely early so that Joe could run the Fayetteville Half Marathon. If someone told me that I had to run 13.1 miles on my birthday, I would fall over and die, but my husband enjoys the rush! He did so good and beat his best time by 5 minutes!

Before and during the race!

Almost done!

Getting his medal...

After the race, we came home to dry off and relax for a second and then we went to Cathy's Corner in Siloam Springs for lunch. Poor Joe then had to go grocery shopping on his birthday, but he was rewarded with cake and presents when he got home!

Not the prettiest cake, but it was made with lots of love!!!

26 candles produce a lot of smoke...

Present time!!! Over Thanksgiving break, Joe's mom and I made Joe a baseball shadow box. Then I gave him his other present early too (new running clothes) so that he could try them out before race day. He didn't think that he was getting anything else on his birthday, but I always have something up my sleeve!

This was the shadow box we made for him...

His card...this was too funny not to get. It describes our relationship very well.

And finally....he had to open three bags. The first bag contained rocks, the second bag contained chalk, and the third bag said "Jayhawk"....for all of you non-KU fans, Rock Chalk Jayhawk is equivalent to Woo Pig Sooie. He opened up the "Jayhawk note" and found this sweet little note....surprise! Joe loves KU and has been wanting to go to a game, so I surprised him with KU tickets for next weekends game! I am so excited about making the trip to Lawrence because I have never been!

Here's the video of my sweet boy opening up his present!

I would say that Joe's birthday was a success! After presents, we laid around and watched TV and then he got over an hour of uninterrupted garage time....I think he liked that more than his KU tickets!

He is the best husband, and I just like to make him happy!

Samantha
